- Maybe he won a Victoria cross!
- One day Edward and his father recieve a letter about Edward's brother who is a soldier in World War 1
- I have to enlist, it is my duty. I must avenge Hector.

- Turns out, the letter says that Hector is dead
- No, Hector and your mother have both died, you are all that I have left.
- Opposite to what his father says, Edward sneaks out and enlists for the military. He is sent to England and works in remount training horses
- One day, after falling off a horse, Edward meets Emily, the nurse that treats him and they fall in love.
- Shortly after, Edward is sent to train with the Lincolnshire Yeomanry. Where he meets his friends Blackburn and Cheevers.
- His regiment is sent to Palestine, but on the way they are attacked by a German submarine. There is a battle and many soldiers die, but Edward and his friends survive.
