Researching helps students to gain a more concrete and understanding of what they are learning. For this assignment, students will choose one type of landform and create a poster about it. The poster must include the definition of the landform, 3 real examples of the landform (i.e. if they chose mountains, real examples could include Mt. Washington, The Rocky Mountain Range, etc.) Students must give details about the real examples such as where they are located, how big they are, and any other information that they feel is interesting and worth mentioning. Students will also include information about what life is like for people who live near or on the land, and any benefits that the land provides.
Teachers can assign students specific landforms or give students a choice. Afterward, students can present their posters to the class, sharing their knowledge about their landform. Thus combining research, writing and public speaking skills into one powerful assignment.

Developing a thorough knowledge, seeing trends, outlining the reasons and effects, or coming up with innovative solutions are some examples of this. Students can also cover all these aspects as a part of their research and develop a thorough study on why they analyzed these aspects and what contribution it is making to already existing literature.
Teachers can recommend students some sample research papers on Landforms to read and analyze. Students can take note of the structure, objectives, research methods, and analysis of the paper and try to do something similar with different goals in mind.
If possible, plan field excursions or other activities that let students see the local landforms. Their knowledge may be improved by this practical experience. If field trips are not possible then teachers can use 3D videos and utilize different forms of technology that can help students look at these sites more closely.
