  • Plebeians, non citizens and slaves had to do all the work like farming, building and more. They also didn't get to run for gov't power. the life style of the plebs consisted of normal sized meals, working lots of the time and not much wine. while the life of a slave or non citizen consisted of mainly work and only eating what their master gives them. A slave can also sell extra crops to buy food.
  • Women in ancient Rome were usually staying at home and had to provide their husbands with children, food and a well run household.
  • Women also had to sew there own cloths and overlook the family affairs.

  • Patriciens are a small, rich group of people that were born into power. At first, they were the only group of people that could run for government power. Their lifestyle consisted of huge feasts, drinking lots of wine and more luxurious things.

  • Senators are a group of 300-500 romans that are like supervisors for officials.
  • A Roman assembly is where citizens gather to vote on officials. it also acted as a legislative branch .
  • Magistrates were like state officials in roman times. they had a degree of power invested in each of them and were elected.
  • The consul is the highest elected official of Roman civilization. The consul consisted of two people that changed monthly. One had to be a pleb, the other a patricien. Every consul number was followed by 12 lictors who served as bodyguards in all public appearances.
  • The tribune of the plebs was the first office open to plebs. It was also the most important check on power for the richer. The tribune can veto laws if they are unfair to plebs.

  • The laws of the 12 tables were put in place so there are written down laws so the patricians can't change them to there likings.
