In this scene Woodrow Wilson is introducing his idea of demands that he believed would bring world peace...
TREATY
As a true man of God, I believe war is cruel, to help maintain peace within our nations and among our people I have created 14 points, that I believe will bring peace upon the world.
A big reason why the war was as serious as it was, is due to the secret allies that had been made, so other countries didn't know that they were claiming war against more than 1 country. This point will make it so that this wont be an issue anymore, and that all allies are known.
l. Open covenants of peace, openly arrived at, after which there shall be no private international understandings of any kind but diplomacy shall proceed always frankly and in the public view
This is the point where people started disagreeing with some of his solutions. People were afraid that these solutions would sacrifice national sovereighty
I don't agree!
Woodrow Wilson had several good points, his reasonings were well thought out, His points did end up failing though because the penalty, that was to be paid from the loosing country to the winning country could not be agreed upon.
Wilsons points weren't used but, a compromise made with everyone was the formation of the 'league of nations.' This formation served as an international forum and an international security arrangement.
