  • We are first introduced to Daedalus, who is an inventor. This inventor had a nephew named Perdix, who had similar abilities to his uncle. Daedalus was concerned and jealous about his nephew's potential powers, so Daedalus decided to send Perdix to an untimely death; by pushing him off a cliff. For his crimes, he was banished from Athens. He found solace in the Court of Minos, in which he met King Minos and Queen Pasiphae. He and Pasiphae became quick friends, and would discuss various topics such as love. Pasiphae was concerned because she didn't feel the love for her husband like he did for her, so a fellow goddess put a spell upon her so she would fall in love with a guard on grounds. King Minos was furious to find out his wife's infidelity, and locked his wife and newborn child in a complex maze. Once the King learned of Daedalus' involvement, he decided the only way to solve this was to lock the inventor, and his son, away too.
  • Daedalus decided he would not be dying here in this pigsty, so he and his son, Icarus, decided to build some sort of contraption to get them out of prison. Daedalus slipped out to go "work in a tower" so he could get the desired materials to create wings for him and his son to get out of there. The two prisoners spent hours crafting the delicate wings, and decided they would set off on their trip the next day. Daedalus gave one order to Icarus, that would soon come back to haunt the young boy: "Beware, dear son of my heart. Lest in thy newfound power thou seekest to soar even to the gates of Olympus. For as surely as the scorching rays from the burnished wheels of the chariot of Apollo smite thy wings, the wax that binds thy feathers will melt, and then will come upon thee and on me woe unutterable.
  • Daedalus and Icarus set out on their journey to escape the prison, sneakily went past the guards and were on their way. Their flight was very smooth... for a while. Icarus was sailing in the wind and living his dream, until he was struck by Apollo's chariot rays struck Icarus in mid-air, damaged his wings severely, and he started falling, slowly down into the ocean. His father could only stand there and watch as his son died from the waves.
