  • For my storyboard, I chose five important moments from “The Trip” to show how Sarika’s perception of the setting changes throughout the story. I wanted to show that even though the physical setting stays mostly the same, the way Sarika feels about the airport changes dramatically. At the beginning, she sees the airport as an exciting place because she is about to travel to Geneva with her classmates. As she is stopped by security and separated from her group, the airport begins to feel more threatening and uncomfortable. By the time she is taken into the interrogation room, she feels trapped and afraid.I chose to make the first frame brighter and more open to represent Sarika’s excitement. As the story progresses, I would make the settings darker and more closed-in to represent her growing fear and isolation. My last frame shows that the airport no longer represents an exciting trip for Sarika. Instead, it represents the discrimination and fear she experienced. I think this shows how the author uses setting and mood to help the reader understand Sarika’s emotions.
