- Carson was a poor student when he was young but eventually received academic honors and went to medical school. He became director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital when he was 33 and became so famous because he was the first person to separate conjoined twins by the head.
- Ben Carson successfully separated Patrick and Benjamin Binder on September 7th, 1987 at John Hopkins Hospital. Patrick and Benjamin are still alive today and are very healthy.
- Now because of Ben Carson neurosurgeons have better understanding of peoples nerves. Certain surgery's will be more advanced and surgeons can save more lives.
