- Elizabeth is jealous of other women and wives in the world that are "prettier and more interesting than her" during this scene. This is a big example of jealously.
- Pride

- Mrs. Ann Putnam wants revenge on Rebecca Nurse for "killing her seven children." She wants Rebecca Nurse to pay for her actions even though she did not kill Mrs. Putnam's children.

- Abigail is lying to Reverend Parris about what she did in the woods. She was doing witchcraft in the woods with the girls.
- "But we never conjured spirits."
- Proctor does not want to lie. He would rather die a honest man. He has more self respect for himself than to lie and live a life that is not honest.
