Characters Alfredo Salazar and Esperanza develop a romantic relationship over time. Whereas Esperanza is perfect for everyone, Alfredo is a lawyer who seeks happiness in life and believes in real love. Family friends for a while, the two couples eventually fall in love. When Alfredo overhears his family talking about his inability to marry Esperanza at their home, things take a bad turn because he is becoming less and less interested in the woman.
