According to Legend, King Numitor was dethroned by his evil brother, Prince Amulius. Amulius also banished Sylvia, Numitor's daughter to the temple of Mars. She married Mars and had birth to the twins, Romulus and Remus.
When Amulius heard of the newborn twins, he worried they would overthrow him, so he sent two servants to drown them in the Tiber River, but they floated until they came to land. There, they were found by a female wolf who felt she had to protect them, so she took them to her cave and raised them as one of her cubs. Here, the babies grew into boys.
I should take these babies to my cave!
One day, the boys ventured out and a shepherd named Faustulus saw them and noticed their wild ways. He then realized they were being raised as wolves. He decided to sneak into their cave during the night to take them to his house to raise them with his wife. There, the boys learned to act as humans.
Their grandfather, King Numitor, heard of the boys and their great deeds they performed for the people. Immediately, he recognized who they were. He told them to save Sylvia from Mars and take the throne. Together, the twins planned their attack.
You must save your mother and overthrow Amulius!

The twins gathered an army, planned to break into the castle, and attack to win the throne. Then, they would go to the temple of Mars to save Sylvia. Thanks to their strength, they succeeded.
To celebrate their success, they decided to build a city along the Tiber River, but they fought over whom to name it after. They fought like wolves until Remus lay dead. From them on, it was called Rome after Romulus
