  • June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920, Congress gave women the right to vote under a new amendment that was passed called the 19th amendment which granted women the right to vote. Achieving this required many years of hard work to convince people to give them to vote
  • Beer companys and ohio on women sufferage
  • During 1912 - 1914 the sufferagists resorted to violence in Britain. The plan was instigated by the Women's Social and Political Union, and was a part of their wider campaign for women's suffrage. it was mainly led by Emmeline Pankhurst, the group targeted infrastructure, government, churches and the general public, and saw the use of improvised explosive devices, arson, letter bombs, assassination attempts and other forms of direct action and violence.

  • From 1890 to 1920, women rose to the top of a variety of social and political movements. The Progressive Era is the name given to this time period. Women were now getting jobs and even some poilotiocol jobs, women were more free and were their own person
  • While women were trying to ratify the right for them to vote in ohio, Beer companies and ohio were worried they wouldn't make money if women got the vote since in the past women had wanted to cancel beer and limit the number of beer men could buy. And beer comoanys and ohio (since ohio was a big beer spot) didn't like that so they made propaganda saying if women got the vote men wouldn't be able to buy beer anymore and then they also said if you voted against women suffrage you would get a free beer
  • After 1920 After the 1920's the role of women was expanded drastically. The progress made during the 1920's allowed women to gain equality under law a d broke many of the narriers preventing women from being in society, like in 1963 the equal pay act making it illegal for women to be payed less than men for the same job. suffragists like Alice Paul knew that their work wasn’t finished. While the government recognized women’s right to vote, many women still faced discrimination. Paul and other members of the National Woman’s Party drafted the Equal Rights Amendment.
