- Sophie!! Do you know what anthropology is?
- Well, I don't really know much about anthropology, but I think is it the study of human evolution and different human cultures around the world.
-
- Actually, anthropology is so much more than that. Anthropology is the study of human beings and there are four subfields that engulf the world of anthropology: cultural, biological, linguistic, and archaeology. Anthropology not only studies the human populations past, but it can help us understand people today.

- Wow. Thank you, Sophie. I think I know what anthropology really is now!
- No problem, girl!
- Anthropology is the study of human beings. There are for main subfields that encompass anthropology: biological, linguistic, cultural, and archaeology. Theses subfields can also be divided further into more fields that are even more specific. In accordance with anthropology, applied anthropology allows us to use these four main subfields to help understand the modern world. So, anthropology does not only look at the evolution, or past, of human beings, but at the present as well.
