What is an empire?

All Empires each needed a cultural identity and a separated territory, It was helping them to take more nations and territories without shifting their identity. The British Empire had an appetite for different nations, which is why they were the largest.
So...what is exactly the reason why the British Empire was the largest Empire in history?
Since Empires opened up their borders so much, they united different ethnic groups into one.

Though they united different ethnic groups together, the reason of reduction in diversity for us humans were Empires. They also managed to unite ecological zones too.
