Slidkalniņš: 1
Wow, this place is amazing! Can't wait to explore.
Welcome to Grand Teton National Park, Jamie!
Slidkalniņš: 2
These are the Teton Range, famous for their stunning, rugged peaks.
What makes these mountains so special?
Slidkalniņš: 3
Most of these rocks are granite, an igneous rock formed from cooled magma.
What kind of rocks are these?
Slidkalniņš: 4
See the large crystals in this granite? They formed as the magma cooled slowly beneath the Earth's surface.
Slidkalniņš: 5
The predominant mineral here is quartz, which is usually white or colorless and very hard.
What about these other minerals?
Slidkalniņš: 6
They were created by fault-block formation. The Teton Fault caused the Earth's crust to break and tilt, forming these sharp peaks.
How did these mountains form?
Slidkalniņš: 7
What is that large flat area down there?
That's the Jackson Hole valley, formed by glacial erosion.
Slidkalniņš: 8
During the Ice Age, glaciers carved out the valley and shaped the landscape
Slidkalniņš: 9
It's amazing how much history is in these rocks.
Absolutely. Geology tells the story of our Earth’s past.

Thanks for the tour, Alex. I learned so much today!
Anytime! The Grand Teton is truly a geological wonder. (taking selfie)
