  • Mama, I sleepy
  • At this point in time Sara's brain is 3/4 the size of her adult brain. Sara has gotten good at hopscotch because her neurons have become rapidly myelinated, improving her movement and coordination. Sara loves to share her toys with her siblings because she understands prosocial behaviors and prefers it. Sara still cries when her dad leaves for work in the mornings because she still can't regulate her emotions when they become intense. Sara effectively helps her mom after every grocery trip because she is starting to understand which items go in the fridge, pantry, and counter. This is due to her neurons going through synaptogenesis.
  • Sara’s brain at this moment is ¾ of the size of her adult brain. Sara has gotten good at playing jump rope because of her rapid development of myelin.
  • Slidkalniņš: 2
  • Sara's brain reached its largest size at age 11. Her neurons are constantly going through synaptic pruning because she is always adapting to new environments. Sara's limbic system started developing early and her prefrontal cortex is not done developing so she often displays risky behavior and poor decision making. Sara is very proficient in English but it is difficult for her to learn her grandma's native language because there is more myelination of her axons, meaning less plasticity of her brain. Sara thinks she has depression because her friends do too. 50% of mental illnesses occur by age 14.
  • I think we should go shoplift
  • Palisades MallTACO BELL

  • Slidkalniņš: 3
  • This is Sara. She is 70 years old.
  • Sara's brain volume has shrunk by 7% since she was a teen due to shrinkage of neurons and decreased synapses. A few of her friends have dementia, which is a gradual decrease in the ability for one to think and remember. Sara has started playing pickle ball which means that new neurons are still forming in her hippocampus. Sara's physical activity will prevent the loss of gray and white matter in her brain and will get rid of neurotoxins. Sara uses both sides of her prefrontal cortex so her cognitive skills are sharp, which means there is less lateralization.
