  • Brutus is giving himself credibility by reusing the word honor multiple times. He says it in a way that sounds confident. The people are more likely to believe him, and do at first.
  • Antony's Speech-Ethos
  • Oh sirs, if I wanted tp stir your hearts and minds into rebellion and rage, then I would wrong Brutus and Cassius..."
  • Brutus calls the Roman people friends. This makes the people more emotionally attached to him and his achievements. This will help gain the support of the people and against Caesar, finishing off a successful plan.
  • Antony's Speech-Pathos
  • Brutus uses the term ambitious to describe Caesar. He says it confidently like it's a fact to convince the people. He also compliments Caesar to counter his negative description to make it look less like a cold hearted murder.
  • Antony's Speech-Logos
  • "You all saw that during the feast of Lupercal I presented him with a kingly crown three times, which he refused three times. Was that ambition?"
  • Antony gives Brutus and Cassius credit while also proving his point. He behaves like he is all for what they did to make him look more respectable. This also helps keep Brutus calm as he speaks.
  • Antony brings up the past and talks about how they all used to love Caesar. He hints at the fact that Brutus was in the wrong without outright saying it. He also touches the Roman peoples' emotions by forcing them to remember their love for Caesar.
  • "You all loved Caeser once, and with good cause. What reason then is holding you back from mourning him?
  • Antony points out that Caesar was humble and didn't take the crown. This is Logos because he used numbers in his argument. This aids in convincing the crowd that he is not the ambitious type.
