Cultural Storyboard Activity

Three aspects of culture that impact Puerto Rican worldviews are government, religion, and arts. This creates worldviews that are vivid and traditional, but are also sensitive and rebellious.
“Roman Catholicism is the major Christian religion in Puerto Rico and claims about 56 percent of the population as members. Most of the remainder belong to various Protestant and other Christian churches, and their numbers are growing.
This quote connects to the idea that Puerto Rico is influenced by religion because of traditions because even though some religions were introduced in harmful ways, it was passed out through their ancestors and through family, friends, or even yourself.
“Puerto Rican culture and arts both reflect Spanish and African influences”
Through arts and music, people can connect and reflect on themselves while also expressing themselves and acknowledging their roots.
This inspired weeks of many protests. Puerto Ricans have not only been colonized and have barely had their own freedom for years, but have been provided with an unprofessional government.
“Since Rosselló’s resignation, protests related to numerous issues have provided further evidence of Puerto Ricans’ dissatisfaction with their politicians.”
