  • A young black girl named Linda had to walk six blocks across a dangerous railroad track to then board a bus that took her to the black only school. But only seven blocks away was a perfect white school for her to go to. Oliver brown Linda's dad, and a dozen local black parents filed a lawsuit against the Topeka Board of Education in 1951 By 1954, it went to the Supreme Court with other cases like it to make one unified case. The court agreed that segregated schooling violated the 14th Amendment. After the court case, people started to think that there should be equal protection for all Americans, not just in school but in life.

  • Rosa Parks failed to give you her seat on the bus to a white person. At the time, it was a law that if the front of the bus was filled with white passengers, the black passengers had to give up their seats to the white passengers. Rosa Parks was arrested on December 1, 1955. Then came the Montgomery Bus Boycott and increased equality for Public transportation.
