- Hello class,Today we are going to learn about the Egyptian civilization. First, Mrs. Smith will teach you about the geography, religion and the art and architecture of the Egyptian Civilization.
- The Egyptian civilization located in north east Africa. The Nile river runs along the civilization. It had a polytheistic religon meaning people believed in more than one god or goddess. Some commonly religious practices were doing magic and use gods instruments like the sistrum, drums etc. They mixed the structure of humans and animals to make the structure of the gods. All the Egyptians believed in afterlife.
- It had a theocracy mixed with monarchy government system as a king ruled and he could connect with the gods. The laws and regulations were made by the king too. It maintained its economy by selling grains as most of the people in the Egyptian civilization were farmers. They also traded papyrus, gold and flax. They mainly traded with Mesopotamian and Lebanon civilization.
- Egyptians built pyramids, tombs, temples and palaces out of stone. Egyptians carved the walls with beautiful paintings and images. They made inscriptions using hieroglyphics. They also made big statues. Some structures contained motifs. The most famous pyramid is the pyramid of Giza. The most famous temple is the Karnak temple.
