Life for women was different around the city-states. The following are some examples of how women lived in Sparta and in Athens.
Sparta
Spartanian girls were allowed to play and exercise outside with the boys. They were also educated like the boys.

Athenian girls had to stay home and clean and they were only educated to run a household, but most wouldn't know how to read or write.
