There is a family. A mom (Stacey), their 8 year old daughter (Amanda), and a father (Paul). They live together in the same house.

Amanda has noticed that her mom and dad have been arguing more frequently and it confuses and scares here because she does not like to see her parents fighting.

Amanda notices the fights get more intense. As Amanda was sitting on the stairs watching her parents argue, she sees her dad physically hit her mom. This frightens and traumatizes Amanda.

Amanda's mom notices that Amanda is visibly upset and distraught after Stacey and Paul were fighting. Amanda thinks it is a good idea to send Amanda to the school counselor for social support to reduce the effects of the IPV on Amanda's mental health.
