- In certain tribes at certain periods, the first task of the day was to worship the rising sun by singing a song and spreading their arms with bowed heads.
- Preparing for evening
- Then followed several hours of work in communal gardens, fishing or gathering shellfish and other seafood. After the first meal of the day they continue their work.
- After eating
- Most chiefs were expected to work alongside their people and a few specialised in occupations like carving, tattooing or making feather coats, children and elderly also helped where they could.
- Tribes stopped working and returned to their village, and fresh water, firewood and prepared food were organized by women and slaves. This food was evenly distributed by the chief.
- The rest of the evening was spent in games or conversation between everyone in the tribe, and usually sleep once it gets dark as working at night was not encouraged since evil spirits were believed to be active at this time.
