- Eventually, Mr. Lambert gave us some “free time” to explore our surroundings. I already knew everything about this national park. Water depth of the lake: 14 metres. Vegetation: Douglas fir with white spruce, pine and aspen. Height of Sulphur Mountain: 2,451 metres.

- Relentlessly bored, I ventured away from the lake and up to the edges of the forest. The first thing I noticed after strolling almost ten metres was the deer.
- After some uncomfortable mutual staring, the deer turned and ambled gracefully down a path overgrown with glacier lilies.

- I was immediately dumbfounded by the change of scenery. Observing the waterfall with its surrounding shrubs of fern and oxeye daisies that littered the mossy surface of the rocky plateau, I was reminded of my more adventurous childhood.

The tree line bordered the edge of an overhanging cliff that opened up to a majestic waterfall anchored into place on both sides by large limestone escarpments, which gleamed proudly in the sun as the cerulean water trickled busily into an underlying stream.
- When I rejoined the group, I headed straight to the edge of the lake. This time I didn’t see facts and figures. This time I saw the hawk soaring over the bright blue surface of the water.
- I soon realized I was admiring the waterfall for almost five minutes, for by the time I turned to make my way back, the deer had gone.
- Hearing her complaints regarding her inability to upload a new post to Instagram without her phone, I was glad I didn’t have a picture of the waterfall. I didn’t want it to end up as another generic desktop background for another tech-savvy consumer.
