Text: The Bill of Rights is a special list of 10 important rules that protect our freedoms. It was added to the U.S. Constitution in 1791 to make sure the government wouldn't have too much power. These rules help keep us safe and free by giving everyone rights that can't be taken away. Why do we need the Bill of Rights? Before the Bill of Rights, people were worried that the government could control everything, even their speech, religion, and privacy. So, the Bill of Rights was created to protect people's freedoms and make sure the government couldn't take them away.
