- It was cold and wet stormy night. Father and son were inside playing chess; while mother was knitting by the fire.
- After a little while Sargent Morris came by to say "hello". Sargent Morris was invited in and took a seat by the fire. After chatting for a while Mr. White asked Morris what he was talking about with the Monkey's Paw. After hearing about it Mrs. White asked too. Morris went on to talk about how the Monkey's Paw can grant three wishes to the keeper of the paw. He said "the last man who had the paw; his last wish was to die."
- Mr. White wanted to see if the Monkey's Paw was true so he took the Monkey's Paw home with him. His wife said for him to wish for money to pay off his mortgage. So then Mr. White said "I wish for 200 pounds". After a little while he still didn't have his money so he thought it was fake, but then on the news was his son Herbert had got caught in a machine at his job and died. When the police showed up they said "He was unrecognizable". So after his son died Mr. White got 200 pounds from his job since his son had died.
- Once Mr and Mrs. White knew the paw worked Mrs. White suggested that they wish for his son to be back to life. Mr. White is very reluctant about this decision but after a while of talking; Mr. White wishes for his son to be alive again. After a while after he made the wish there was a knocking at the door. At first they ignored it but then it kept getting louder and the knocking kept going.
- Mrs. White rushed to the door to open it but Mr. White quickly went after her to stop her. Mrs. White is telling him it's their son but Mr. White doesn't think it's just "their son" after what happened to him. So Mr. White quickly grabbed the paw to wish but he dropped it so in the dark he was frantically looking for the paw meanwhile Mrs. White was trying to open the door for her "son".
- Mrs. White was just about to open the door and that's when he found the paw and made his final wish; then the knocking stopped. Mrs.White quickly opened the door, but when she opened the door no one and nothing was there.
