- Hey... do you have some time to hear about my family history?
- I'm Brendan Knight, and I have researched so much information about my family history this month.
- My family is from Washington, DC, and I was born and raised in Maryland.
- My family celebrates African American traditions. We celebrate traditional holidays such as Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas with family dinners, gift exchanges, and Easter Egg hunts. On some occasions we also celebrate 4th of July because it’s so close to my Dad’s birthday, so we have a big cookout. We also celebration on occasion, Memorial Day for my Mom’s birthday and Labor Day to end the summer.
- Birthdays are celebrated for me and my siblings annually with a birthday dinner at a restaurant of our choice, and for milestone birthdays, we have birthday parties and invite family and friends.
- The things that are culturally relevant to family are, giving thanks on Thanksgivingand sharing and bonding with family at Christmas.
