Hey! Hey! Break it up, there is room for Reflexivity Reflection at the table!
Reflection is the process of thinking back on an experience, action, or the research to obtain a full understanding a learning. Reflexivity is all about you and is selfish.
Reflexivity is ALL ABOUT examining your own background, beliefs, assumptions, identities, experiences that influence the research. It's inclusive.

Let's chat about it! Reflection is looking at one's experience/research and reflexivity is looking at yourself in the research. Both help improve ones research and identify bias.
So.... reflexivity helps researchers understand their personal experiences and influences in research. It aids in critical thinking and identifying assumptions/bias.
And... reflection helps researchers understand what happened in the research. It aids in observation, thoughtful decision making, learning from experience.

What are examples of work you both do where you could be both - reflexive and reflective in your subjectivities? Instead of being divided, let's work together!!
Hmm - maybe research journaling? To be reflective, I could record my obersations in the study, but to be reflexive I can note how my perspective shaped my interpretations
Well then - maybe I would do a positionality statement. To be reflective, I would describe the experiences that led to my topic. Yet in being reflexive, I would review how the experiences shape my decisions and interpetations.
