Fracking has made the U.S. one of the largest producers of natural gas, helping lower energy prices and create jobs. However, it also raises concerns about environmental damage, water contamination, and even earthquakes.

- It happens in areas with large oil and gas reserves, like Montana, Texas, and North Dakota. These places have shale rock formations that hold significant amounts of oil and gas.

- Fracking is mainly done to meet the growing energy demand. Since traditional oil extraction methods can’t reach all the available resources, fracking allows companies to access deeper oil and gas deposits. To do this, they drill into the ground, then inject high-pressure fluids to fracture the rocks and free the trapped resources.

Water sources might become polluted, air quality could worsen, and communities near drilling sites could suffer from health issues.
