- The Baudelaire Children's parents had died in a house fire. Mr. Poe had told the children about their parents, the kids broke out and didn't believe it was true. Later on, they went down to the beach to try and cheer them up and get their head off of it. 
- In the play, Count Olaf wants to marry Violet in the play. Violet doesn't wanna marry Count Olaf in the play, but she knows she needs to do it for Count Olaf. Violet signs the marriage license with her left hand, so she doesn't actually marry him. 
- After the house fire, Mr. Poe drives the Baudelaire Children to Count Olaf's house. Count Olaf's house isn't very bright, and the children do not want to stay at his house. The children didn't have a choice, they had to stay at Count Olaf's as Mr. Poe couldn't take care of them anymore. 
- During the play, the lights go out and Count Olaf and his associates run out of the theatre. They run out while everyone can't see, Count Olaf makes the escape out of the theatre. The Baudelaire Children then are confused where Count Olaf is, they then realize he left and escaped the theatre when the lights turned off.
