Rising action
Charlie is a 37 year old male, who cant read and write very well, gets recommended by his teacher, Ms. Kinnian for a experiment that will make him a genius.
Climax
After getting accepted for the expierement, he meets his new best friend, a rat named Algernon, who had the same experiment done as Charlie did. Dr. Straus begins to test how this experiment effects them both.
Falling Action
He begins to get very smart, becoming more wise then any of his friends, teacher, and even Dr. Straus. With this new intelligence, he becomes a know it all and ends up losing his friends and his job because he is not fun to be around anymore.
Resolution
Charlie notices Algernon has been acting strange, not eating, and trying to kill himself. After conducting some experiments and research of his own he comes to the conclusion that the experiment done by Dr. Straus is causing Algernon to rapidly decline, and change him to be worse then he was before the experiment. This is when Charlie realizes he has the same fate, and was just a lab rat all along.
Accepting his fate, he isolates himself, and doesn't talk to anyone.
Charlie's amazing intelligence declines over a short period of time and he becomes less intelligent than he did before the experiment. He enters a second childhood. And Algernon dies, so he puts flowers around his grave.
