A shadow approaches
The neighbors are chatting outside during a normal evening on Maple Street.
Climax
Oh God, it wasn't an intruder, It's Pete Van Horn. He's dead!
Suddenly, there's a flash and roar. The electricity goes out in the neighborhood.
Falling Action
'... I didn't know who he was... How was I supposed to know he wasn't a monster or something?...' (680)
The neighbors try to find the source of the power outage. Tommy insists it is caused by an invading alien family living in disguise on their street.
Resolution
'... we'll go from one to the other and let them destroy themselves. One to the other... one to the other... one to the other...' (684)
Charlie shoots the shadow, which collapses. Now, lights and appliances begin to turn on and off.
The neigborhood loses control, and devolves into an angry mob, smashing windows and grabbing weapons.
We finally zoom out and get to see aliens in a spaceship. They've set up this situation to turn the humans against each other.
