- Let me take you on a trip back to the year 130 B.C or the second century.
- The silk road was an ancient trade route that linked the western world with the middle east and Asia.
- How did merchants and tradesmen traveled?
- They mostly traveled in large caravans . When traveling on water they had to make boats, rafts, and coracles. When traveling on land they used animals as transportation like donkeys and horses.
- What were they really trading?
- During the Silk Road luxury goods and everyday use goods were traded. But that was not the only thing culture, religion and even diseases.
- They were many different paths some were longer and shorter while some were faster but more dangerous and unsafe.
- Yes, exactly! What do you know about ancient Mesopotamia?
- I know that many important inventions that we use now were created then. Also, it was ruled and controlled by empires.
