- Papa gets killed by the bandits
- Tio Luis and Tio Marcos own El Rancho de las Rosas and burn down the ranch

- Since Tio Luis owns the property, they go to the USA. Alfonso and Miguel keep washing a table cloth, Esperanza doesn't know what it is.
- Esperanza and everyone are forced to live in a cabin and work as servants for money. Esperanza meets Marta who is mean to her. She also meets a girl named Isabel. Everyone else is fine with the change but Esperanza isn't. She has to keep an eye on the babies and sweep the floor and she doen't know-how.
- It is revealed that the cloth they were washing was papa's roses. They made a shrine of Our Lady Guadalupe and Miguel says no matter where you go, papa would be there with you.

- Esperanza and Isabel go to the camp meet and is confused because she sees Marta and her group of friends say things about going on strike for higher pay. Isabel does get a cat from the guy who owned them
