Covalent bonds arise from the sharing of electrons, whereas ionic bonds involve the transfer of electrons. The attraction of a positive and negative charge forms the ionic bond. Chemicals are constructed using ionic or covalent chemical bonding. Ionic bonds develop between metals and nonmetals, but covalent bonds form between nonmetals.
Moreover, ionic bonding enables scientists to manipulate ionic properties to manufacture desired products and to build specific chemical molecules. It is beneficial to our human body because ions play a part in determining cell morphologies, catalytic processes, and neuron function. It is also vital in the human body because ions may accumulate positive and negative charges on different sides of cells as they go in and out of them.
Lastly, covalent bonds are particularly important since they represent the primary mode of interaction for the majority of carbon compounds. Because covalent bonds enable molecules to exchange electrons, longer chains of compounds and a higher degree of complexity in living things are possible.
I think those would be enough for our group activity. Thank you all for participating! I'll update you guys later about the making of the PowerPoint presentation. That's all!
