In first grade, I met a group of other kids who loved running around and playing games during recess and lunch. We became very close friends and stayed so for all of elementary school.

I was really scared to go middle school because I didn't have much experience making friends and I didn't know anyone there. Everyone else seemed to know somebody else, and I spent a long time going from friend group to friend group trying to find my people.
How am I going to make friends?
Eventually, though, I found a group of friends who matched my interests and seemed to like me. We spent a lot of time together, and I grew very attached to them.

After growing close to another friend group, I had to leave them again when I went to high school. This time, though, I was a lot more confident in my ability to adapt to new social situations, and I managed to make friends pretty quickly. I'm grateful for the challenges I had to face because they have made me a stronger person.
