Harm reduction is the practice of using drugs, but safer. Patients are allowed to use drugs but in a less harmful manner. But harm reduction is failing.
Harm reduction is used in the field of behavioral health and addiction. When those struggling with substance abuse issues go to get help, harm reduction might be put in place.

But why is harm reduction failing?
Although harm reduction is in place to lessen harm, harm is staying the same and even getting worse. Those struggling with addiction are still relapsing, children of addicts are left with struggles, and many people are passing away due to drug overdoses.

People are going to get help and relapsing, and sometimes even overdosing. These overdoses can be fatal. Children of addicts will need life long support to break the cycle of addiction. More needs to be done to help those battling substance abuse.
