- Chapter 6 is about when the SS made the Jews increase their pace. The SS had orders to shoot anyone that could not sustain the pace. Elie was dragging an emaciated body. A young boy name Zalman, he had worked in the electrical material depot in Buna.
- Chapter 7 is about when Eliezer father wouldn't wake up so, the "gravediggers" tried to throw Eliezer's father off the train. Meir Katz, a friend of Eliezer's father, he worked as a gardener in Buna. They had arrived in Buchenwald. The prisoners are crammed together in the train car for the night.
- Chapter 8 is about Eliezer refuses to let his father sit down and rest because he sees the ground covered in corpses. Who tried to do just what his dad wants--to rest and give in to death. Eliezer brings hime some coffee and later gives his father some of his own soup ration.
