I hear degrees all the time. What are degrees when we are talking about angles?
Degrees are a unit of measurement, like inches or pounds.

Degrees measure rotation or turn of an angle in reference to a full circle.

A sailor looks straight ahead through a spyglass at another ship. There is no turn, so he is looking at an angle of 0 degrees.
