Show parents how classroom behavior will be monitored, positively reinforced, and the steps taken to correct behavior outside norms and expectations. Parents will also be giving positive behaviors, not just negative ones.

Gather evidence from behavior log, reconfirm meeting with parent/guardian, and have a few plans of actions ready to suggest.

Be friendly, inform parent of recording, and go over class expectations on behaviors. Keep the mood light.

Communicate some of the positive behaviors their child has had in the class. Then move to the issue at hand. Use data collected in behavior log.

Make a plan of action with the parent. Offer suggestions if asked. Finally, review the plan of action to minimize confusion.
