Before our lesson, I believed anthropology was about human evolution and exploration. After watching one of the assigned videos, I learned it was simply the study of humans. Additionally, it is a key tool for understanding humans through our differences in culture, language, biology, and history.

From this lesson, I learned that anthropology (arth) is a vast discipline divided into four subfields; archaeology, biological, linguistic, and cultural. I also discovered that its methodologies are used to address modern, real-world issues like bilingual education, public health initiatives, and corporate workplace culture (arth at work| 2nd vid).

My perception of anthropology changed significantly after this lesson. Initially, I viewed the field as a strictly historical human evolution and discovery, a pursuit almost focused entirely on the ancient past and historical digging discoveries.
Learning about its extensive real world application made me realize how deeply invloved anthopologist are in solving contemporary societal issues (arth at work | 2nd vid). I now am able to understand that is is a highly relevand, active science that is dedecated in improving and recoring human interaction and addreding modern challenges in real time.
