  • The Yalta conference, was a conference between the world's superpower's leaders. They discussed war strategies including Russia entering war against Japan. They also discussed post war reparations and governments. The most important thing they discussed was Russia being friendly to surrounding countries and allowing them free elections.   • After WWII Stalin had started making many hostile speeches. Most of them against fascism and Germany. He excluded democratic allies from war guilt and place most of it on Germany. He also talked about the price of soviet lives during the war. Finally with his omissions of certain things of his speeches he sent a message of being able to step forward for a price.   • Nato was ratified in 1949. NATO means North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO would be vital for war prevention. They also developed laws about times during wars, to make them less harmful to civilians.

  • The kitchen debate was a talk between Nixon and Khrushchev in 1959. It was mostly a disagreement between how soviet and American households are different. With euphemisms and references on how this relates to the quality of the citizens. This was shown in both The Soviet Union and the united states.(Source that video we watched a while back)
  • Nixon Resigned from his presidential responsibilities in 1974. He resigned after his Watergate scandal was discovered. This would weaken the United States after a sudden change of power. Not much changed about how went about the cold war due to the vice president being one of Nixon's men. (Source knowledge from our Watergate assignments.)
  • After rivaling the West in economic and military power for a while, the soviet union's economy collapsed. Their economy experienced rapid growth for a while but eventually slowed to almost a halt after they started running out of development ideas. The final straw was Perestroika a reform idea that completely countered the base of their economy causing collapse. The Soviet Union officially disbanded in 1991.
