  • Hay, did you know that the 100 Years' War started when a French king died and his closest living relative was King Henry V of England?
  • Do you know anything about the 100 Years' war?
  • Let me tell you about it.
  • I know it lasted 116 years and started in 1337, but other than that no.
  • Okay.
  • No.
  • The first main battle is the Battle of Agincourt in 1415. In this battle the English were out numbered 1 to 3, but they had really good military tactics. The English, lead by King Henry V, was in a forest and forced the French to attack them. In the end the English won! 400 English men died and 6,000 French died. This battle changed the tide of the war.
  • After this the French king, King Charles VII, was so desperate that when a young girl, Joan of Arc, came to him saying that God sent her to lead the French army and save the French, he let her do it. After that, at the Siege of Orleans in 1429, the French won! However soon after this Joan was captured by the English and then they burned her. This battle also changed the tide of the war.
  • After that the French began using cannons that helped them win every battle until the Battle of Castillon. In 1453, the Battle of Castillon the English drove the French away basically ending the 100 Years' War.
  • It was, and even some more things happened after the war. One main thing that happened was feudalism ended and Nationalism rose. Also there was new battle tactics introduced...
  • Yes, like the cannons.
  • Wow, that sounds awesome!
  • Like the cannons?
  • No. Why?

  • Wow, that's so cool. Have you ever thought about being a History teacher?
  • You would be really good and everyone would pay attention. That's why.
