- lzanagi and his wife Lzanami were asked by spirits to create a new land from the spirits.
- They plunged a spear into the ocean and when they pulled it out drops fell from the tip, forming the first Japanese isalnd
- they settled in this island and gave birth to the islands that now form Japan.
- once again they also gave birth to a range of Gods to inhabit each of these lands such as the wind, rivers and land.
- while giving birth to the god of fire Lzanami died. Her husband tried to get her back back Lzanami refused . he returned alone bringing with him so many impurities with him. these impurities caused human wrongdoing .
- when he washed himself the water droplets that ell from him created other Gods and one of those Gods became the first Japanese emperor
