I need forgiveness for I have sinned today! I have told three lies!
Just give me some money and you will be forgiven.
Forgiveness should be given by God, not sold! This is terrible!
Luther writes the 95 Thesis
Writing this will make the church wanna solve these problems and change.
Martin Luther's original intentions was to have a career in law, but instead made the decision to enter a monastery. In 1507, he became a Priest for the Catholic Church and even became a professor for Biblical Theology in 1512.
The Catholic church refuses to change
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Catholic Church! We do not need to change!
I was just trying to help us improve!
Part of the Church's role was to give indulgences. An indulgence is a way to people to gain forgiveness of their sins and was given to them by the Pope, but Pope Leo X soon took advantage of indulgences and began selling them for money. Luther disagreed with this as he thought this only seemed like an act to get money.
Protests
Luther not only disagreed with selling indulgences, but with many other things involved with the Catholic church. This caused his to write the 95 Thesis, a list of things he thought should be changed in the church.
The Birth of the Protestant Church
Have you ever heard about the Protestant religion?
After Luther finished the 95 Thesis, he presented it to the church. The church though, refused to change and became enraged that Luther thought they should change.
After this, Luther and many other people (which became known as Lutherans) broke away from the Catholics and protested. One of their protests included nailing Luther's 95 Thesis onto the church.

Protestant
Eventually after Luther seen no change happening within the Catholic church, he created his own which is now known as the Protestant church. The Protestant religion was spread all around the world. and is still practiced to this day.
