  • The basic structure of the federal government in the US is divided into three branches. Legislative Branch- Creates laws. Executive Branch-Enforces the laws and manages day-to day operations o government. Judicial Branch- Interprets laws, includes supreme court.
  • US GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS
  • Key points: Checks and Balances: Each Branch can limit other branches power. The constitution- Outlines powers and responsibilities of each branch. The federal government also includes agencies that handle managing the space program, protecting forests, and advancing general welfare for us. The federal system is a constitutional republic that divides power between federal and state governments.
  • The federal government has limited power over the states, but the Tenth Amendment reserves power to states unless they are delegated to the Federal Government. The federal government is basically like the main government. It's split into 3 branches of government. Legislative makes the laws, Executive branch is like the presidents and actually enforces the laws, Judicial branch has supreme court at the top they decide if the laws are fair and follow the constitution. The whole point of having three branches is so that no one gets too much power, pretty smart if you ask me!
