Ancient Mesopotamia was located by the Euphrates and Tigris River. These rivers flooded giving fertile soil to the land.Mesopotamia was also located behind a mountain range for protection against other tribes.

Most of the Mesopotamians were polytheist who praised multiple gods.They also built temples called Ziggurats where they would go to praise and offer things to the gods.

Mesopotamians created the first set of laws these were to keep the civilization in order. These laws were written on a slab of metal for everyone to see. They were also the first person to create the first type of writing on clay tablets. They could now write down important things that they didn't have to remember. they came up with Math too they used the number 60 to measure everything.

Mesopotamia was ruled by a king or emperor. A monarchy was 1 city/state ruled by 1 king. An empire was many city/states ruled by 1 emperor.
They traded things like livestock, crops, pottery, and clothes with other tribes.
Social structure was based on jobs mostly and how much money you had.
