It was the first day of school at Central High Rural in Cambridge Nova Scotia, 2007. This grade 9 boy is wearing one of his favourite pink shirts for his first day.
Students were giving the boy weird looks. Two boys in his class started calling him names and making fun of him. There were only a few kids that told the bullies to stop. The boy in the blue shirt is Travis Price and he is a grade 12 who knew he needed to stop this bullying.
Travis Price and David Shepperd knew something needed to be done to stope the bullying at their school. They took the day to come up with a plan.
The boys came up with a plan to wear their own pink shirts to show their support to the grade 9 boy. They talked to other to get them involved as well.
All of the bullies were put in their places! The grade 9 boy felt so loved knowing that so many people now have his back. This showed all bullies that they are not as powerful as others.
All over the world today schools and other organizations take part in Pink Shirt Day to show their support against bullying.
