- Eleanora Fagan was born on April, 7th 1915 in Philadelphia, USA.
- She had a difficult childhood, and lived without family stability...She underwent also a lot misteatment like rape and violence.
- She did not study and therefore began to sing in speakeasies in Harlem.Where she was spotted by a major producer and that is where she took the name "Billie Holiday".
- In her career, she sang with many singers and even in an orchestra. She received awards, she did a musical tour in Europe but she suffered from racism and started to drink and take drugs. She was arrested for drug possession and went to jail for a year.
- She had three husbands in her life but was left alone until the end of her life, the first was Louis McKay then Jimmy Monroe and the last was Joe Guy.
- She eventually died at 44 years from renal failure, on July, 17th 1959 in New York.
