Cyberbullying e bullying verbal soam diferentes. O que é dito online geralmente nunca seria dito em voz alta, especialmente para o rosto da vítima. Há muitos fatores que contribuem para essa diferença, inclusive não ser visto enquanto a digitação tira alguma culpa percebida do valentão. O valentão pode sentir que o que está dizendo ou fazendo não é grande coisa. Eles podem não reconhecer quaisquer consequências para suas ações. Além disso, não ver o dano de suas palavras também pode tirar o impacto do que é dito. Ao enviar mensagens de texto, postar nas mídias sociais, etc., os agressores podem sentir gratificação instantânea ao atacar os outros. Esses são conceitos importantes para os adolescentes entenderem enquanto usam a tecnologia. Essa atividade os ajudará a descobrir essas ideias.
Nesta atividade, os alunos ilustrarão um cenário de situações de cyberbullying e bullying verbal e explicarão porque é mais fácil escolher um sobre o outro. Isso também fornecerá um início de conversa perfeito para a aula. Faça perguntas abertas aos alunos, como: você cortaria alguém na fila do supermercado? Os alunos devem dizer não. Então pergunte a eles por que as pessoas em carros cortam umas as outras então? O aluno normalmente lista razões como: não consegue ver seu rosto, etc. Por fim, pergunte a ele: essas razões tornam o cyberbullying mais fácil também?
