Yet here, Laertes? Aboard, abord, for shame! Give they thought no tongue nor any unproportioned thought his act. Be thou familiar, but by no means familiar. Grapple them unto thy soul with hoops of steel, but do not dull thy palm with entertainment. give every man thy ear, but few thy voice.
Most humbly do I take my leave, my lord
Polonius tells reynaldo he has a plan
Give him this money and these notes, Reynaldo
Before you visit him, to make inquire of his behavior
My lord I did intend it
I will my lord
What Reynaldo should do
And there put on him what forgeries you please
Ay, or drinking, fencing, swearing, quarreling, drabbing -- you may go so far
As gambaling my lord
Polonius goes on and on about how laertes should and should not act. He explains all his opinions and instructs laertes. However, laertes humbly takes his advice and goes on his way.
Reynaldo's concern
My lord that would dishonor him
Even though Laertes showed no resistance to his father's advice Polonius decides to create conflict and send Reynaldo to spy on Laertes.
Polonius clearing up his plan
But my good lord--
Polonius decides that he wants Reynaldo to spread rumors of bad things that Laertes is doing in order to see how his friends respond.
Reynaldo goes off
Observe his inclination in yourself
Reynaldo, however, is worried that he will be dishonoring Laertes by spreading these rumors.
You must not put another scandal on him. Bu breath his faults so quaintly that he is open to inconsistency
Polonius clears up his plan by explaining he doesn't want to start a scandal simply see how Laertes is doing.
Marry sir, here's my drift: By indirections find directions out
Reynaldo goes off to complete his task of metalling with Laertes' life in France.
